i hate you alternative wellness natural chemical free vegan non-GMO herbal intuitive whole foods healing raw high vibrational plant based cleanse gluten free superfood supplement blend bullshit!!!! You’re not healthier and more balanced and connected to the Earth because your smoothies are full of unidentifiable green and brown powders you got from a subscription box to ✨URTH-CRUNCH VAGINAL ENLIGHTENMENT✨!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You do not need to Buy Product

There is no advertisement on social media for whole, natural, pure foods ‘cause they grow out the fucking ground

Go to a farmer’s market. Start a garden yourself. Drill some holes in the bottom of a 5gal bucket and start growing stuff on your porch

There is no Product that will make you connected to Earth, because Earth is what you’re fucking standing on, and what you see when you step outside is no less pure or natural or sacred than some exotified jungle in Africa

Nature is everywhere and FREE. Dandelions growing out of the sidewalk? Nature. Moss on a concrete step? Nature. A tree in a park in town? That’s nature baby. Weeds on the side of the road? NATURE. She’s everywhere!

And if you don’t feel surrounded by nature already? If you don’t see the bounty of nature in the world around you? Don’t order some stupid product in a plastic package about it. Ask yourself WHY.

How come you feel the need to Buy Product that “Comes From The Dirt” one fuckthousand miles away? There’s dirt beneath you. There’s plants around you. How come your HOME doesn’t feed you and provide for you? How come you don’t find “healthy” and “natural” just by stepping outside?

Is there a farmer’s market? Can you start a garden? Are there wild plants you can safely forage? WHY NOT? Is the Earth beneath you pure and unpolluted? WHAT HAPPENED?

What happened to your home? What has estranged you? I hope you think about it. I hope it keeps you up at night.

This stuff is most accurately termed a “concoction.” These are potion ingredients.

Why does everyone want to eat algae so bad?? I know some seaweeds are foods with a long history, but cuisines that include it aren’t consuming it as a lumpy gel. There are actual recipes you can cook with nori and wakame. This “sea moss” shit is all sludges and supplements. Is an Instagram influencer’s diet just a bunch of pills and scoops of powder?

Diversity win! The business scamming you into taking an herbal supplement for emergency contraception is Black-owned!

I suspect that the reason instagram decided to show me a billion “sexual health” fraudsters is because I was googling whether my pharmacy gives the HPV vaccine.

By the way, this whole category of product is a scam. You do not need special oils, soaps, herbs, or anything for your vulva or vagina. “Yoni steaming” is not a thing, it is not an Ancient Tradition, it is bullshit made up by batshit unhinged antivaxx con artist Gwyneth Paltrow.

The vagina is just a body part. It’s not some sacred, mysterious, complicated temple governed by arcane and ineffable forces that require you to buy 87 products to maintain ~Balance~.

Do not take medical advice from anyone who says “womb” or “yoni.” Trust me on this.

By the way, I looked up the ingredients to that “yoni oil”

Clove, Tea Tree oil, AND Peppermint oil? That does NOT sound like a good time

“Nightshade-free” Girl help the wellness influencers are coming up with new things to arbitrarily eliminate from their diets

I know it’s harder to Google back where you are in 1802, but the tomato will not harm you!

I appreciate how angry you are that people are scamming folx.  Your kind heart made my day.  AND!  You are SO RIGHT that some education is needed here! Taking your advice, I used Google and Google Scholar for this research.

WHAT I LEARNED:

1. The fucked up wellness influencers are often, though not always, neofascist girlies (of all genders) trying to get people with chronic medical problems that are UNDER INVESTIGATED & UNDER TREATED to feel appreciated as a recruitment tactic.  It’s a Problem.  And we all know a fascist Loves a GOOD GRIFT.

2.  The stuff that isn’t about vaginas and shit is actually about stuff that is UNDER INVESTIGATED & UNDER TREATED.

3.  Personal note on the subject of GETTING OUTDOORS AND TOUCH THE GRASS:
Most of the consequences of having under investigated and under treated invisible disabilities like the various types of arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and many others limit how much and what kind of outside time you can do.  How much gardening you can do, for example.  I am in CONSTANT pain that varies in intensity.  My hands sometimes stop working altogether.  Me trying to prune a bush in my garden is not practical.  Me trying to weed my garden, or harvest there isn’t always something I can do.  This year, I couldn’t harvest my radishes in time due to a pain flare, so now i have the most BEAUTIFUL radish flowers!  Enjoying them, too.  So pretty!  So yeah, many of us who need some of the things on your list of scams the wellness influencers were making up really do feel very disconnected from Earth BECAUSE OF OUR INVISIBLE DISABILITIES.

4.  NOW TO THE GOOGLE LINKS!

4a.  AIP is the AutoImmune Protocol
used to identify what is making someone with an autoimmune illness unwell and here is what the CLEVELAND CLINIC (not a ‘fraudster’) says about it.

https://health.clevelandclinic.org/aip-diet-autoimmune-protocol-diet/

Autoimmune diseases are horrible and most people tell people who have them that we just want ATTENTION.  No, we just don’t want to die because our body think our body is THE ENEMY.  Quite often the result is INFLAMMATION and CHRONIC PAIN which varies in intensity and location in the body.

4b.  The MAYO CLINIC’s thoughts on those annoying gluten free people (i’m one of them, alas!):
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/celiac-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20352220

4c.  There is clearly some debate among medical researchers about how valid the nightshade allergy might be as an across the board thing:
(apologies, that these are behind paywalls)

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10620-023-07955-9

https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-030-88473-4_3

4d.  LINK TO THE TOMATO ALLERGY SEARCH I JUST DID ON GOOGLE SCHOLAR:  https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C48&q=tomato+allergy&btnG=

apparently some people WILL die of eating a tomato, trust me I was surprised, too.

4e.  LINK TO THE DIETARY TRIGGER NIGHTSHADE VEGETABLES SEARCH I JUST DID ON GOOGLE SCHOLAR:  https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C48&q=dietary+trigger+nightshade+vegetables&oq=NIGHTSHADE+VEGETABLE

and nightshades seem to be causing inflammation issues all over the place which is one of the hallmarks of many autoimmune disorders.

5.  ON THE VAG NONSENSE - You’re right that stuff is a scam and it can make your body unhappy if you use them.

6.  In case you want reliable, experiment and research based understandings of herbs as used in Germany - you can read:  https://shop.elsevier.com/books/the-complete-german-commission-e-monographs/blumenthal/978-0-9655555-0-0

which is THE COMPLETE GERMAN COMMISSION E MONOGRAPHS.  This book relates all the science done on each of 300 herbs commonly used by German herbalists.  Helpful.  Very science.  Much research.  COOL.

7.  LINK TO THE GOOGLE SCHOLAR SEARCH FOR ‘AMERICAN HERBAL MEDICINE RESEARCH’  https://scholar.google.com/scholar?as_ylo=2022&q=american+herbal+medicine+research&hl=en&as_sdt=0,48

8.  FINAL THOUGHTS
Hope that helps everybody understand some of the stuff that is REAL that is still being researched and discussed and debated by actual medical experts and researchers.

I know and deeply appreciate that you didn’t intend to throw disabled people without proper access to doctors who give a shit under the bus.

Those of us with these oddball autoimmune diseases are overwhelmingly not taken seriously by doctors.  We are objects of intense interest to RESEARCH SCIENTISTS, so if we catch one of THAT SORT’s EYE we are guinea pigs.

We spend a lot of time on Google Scholar finding everything to do with our WTF is wrong now experiences and then we bring that full ass note book to the doctor, who says 'oh you really want attention don’t you’ and how he knows best and won’t even talk to the authors of the study to see if your situation and the ones they’re investigating are a match.  It’s horrid and common.  ESP FOR WOMEN, and even more so for women of color.

The wellness industry sprung up at first to serve those of us that the medical people generally don’t take seriously.  And then it morphed into a money grab by icky sorts.  Nothing more horrifying than watching people trying to heal while enduring medical neglect get coopted into weird toxic delusional shit.

I think you’re right about the tomato thing being an allergy thing, and thank God, I thought someone had come up with a weird new way of restricting their diet.

Yeah, these “wellness” influencers do overwhelmingly prey on people who aren’t taken seriously by doctors. If you look at the comments a lot of it is people asking if this supplement will help with [XYZ issue or disability].

Sadly you can’t say “Just listen to/trust your doctor” because a lot of people have been dismissed and hurt by their doctors! …and it leads down a terrible pipeline of getting into antivaxx stuff, expensive supplements, which then leads into diet culture and worse.

It’s a shitty situation. I would like to encourage everybody to be super careful with herbal supplements because they are NOT REGULATED meaning a supplement you take may not contain what is advertised on the label.

I hope the future will contain enough community and interdependence that disabled people can enjoy the gifts of the Earth without needing to do all the work themselves which may be painful and impossible. Same goes for people who work too much or don’t have the free time to garden; those of us that do ought to share with them and offer to take care of plants and trees for them. More interdependence is the way.

I want to add that if you’re post-menses and feel gross (understandable—your hormones just shit the bed and you’re tired and bloated and you have been leaking blood for a week), there is something you can buy that is very cheap, and does not require any “special ingredients” or complicated preparations in order to feel better:

Spring water.

Yes, a plain old bottle of Aquafina. (Although I recommend Fiji for this simply because its origin is a verified source. The reason you don’t want to use tap water is because it may contain chlorine, and it can be weirdly hard to identify whether your area uses chlorine or not. If you know you’re on clean, chlorine-free water, you can do this with tap water, but you want to be CERTAIN first. Chlorine can fuck up your vag in ways it can’t fuck up your insides because the bacteria are different.)

1) let your water sit out til it’s room temperature.

2) make yourself comfy in an empty bathtub or over the toilet. If you’re choosing the latter, you may have to slouch.

3) pour about a cup of water slowly over the exterior of your vulva. Do not insert anything into the vagina. Do not use a douche to “cleanse.” EXTERNALS ONLY.

4) pat dry. Drink the water you didn’t use, because one of the best things you can do to feel better at all times is to hydrate.

There’s something about body-cool water that feels refreshing without actually putting mystery potions inside your body. Does it actually do anything? I mean, I don’t know. It might just be a placebo. It probably is. But crucially, it is not a placebo that asks you to use goop and gels and g-d knows what. It’s just water. (And if you’re particularly hairy down there, it will help to wash away any dried blood that’s decided it wants to be stubborn.)

And if you feel alienated from the earth around you but have disability issues like the ones discussed above, try planting some green onions. They’re easy to grow and extremely low-maintenance and you can keep them inside in a pot.
